BOSTON, MA, ISSUED JUNE 10, 2007…Thanks to the collaboration of two Boston area businesses, Dress for Success Boston (www.dressforsuccess.org) will have a new, improved storage area at its 989 Commonwealth Avenue location this week.
Dress for Success Boston is a nonprofit whose mission is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
Heidi Solomon, principal of P.O.S.H. Consulting (www.posh-boston.com), is donating its firm’s organizational and strategic planning services to help Dress for Success improve the processing of weekly donations thereby allowing staff more time and energy to focus on assisting clients. In talking with the team at Dress for Success Boston, Solomon learned that they are in desperate need of efficient and practical storage within their building. She contacted Brian McSharry, principal of Closet and Storage Concepts (www.closetandstorageconcepts.com) and after devising a sorting and processing system together Brian drafted the designs. He also agreed to donate the time and materials to build the shelving system in the back area of the building. The work will be done on Wednesday. The cost of building the closets is $4300.
“I am delighted to have helped put this program together,” said Solomon, who added, “Dress for Success Boston provides such a valuable service to women in need – and it is great to find Brian of Closet and Storage Concepts who is willing to donate his time and effort to make this a reality.”
Founded in New York City in 1997, Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization offering services designed to help clients find a job and remain employed. Once women have completed a job training course and secured an interview they schedule an appointment with Dress for Success to obtain free interview attire. Each client receives one suit when she has a job interview and can return for a week’s worth of clothing after securing the job further ensuring their success in the workforce.
